Holy Christmas Batman!
How is it almost the end of 2018? It has been an incredible year for us here at Girl Friday IP.
We wanted to take a moment to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who has supported us this year. We are beyond grateful for the opportunity to meet, connect and work with you all. Check the cheesy grins above.* Says it all really.
From over-eating, watching Love Actually for the millionth time, to sparking competitive feuds over backyard cricket – whatever your plans these holidays, our little family wishes yours a very Merry Christmas!
We’re looking forward to more laughs and all that IP jazz with you all in 2019!
Before signing off for the year, we wanted to share our highlight reel for 2018, where we’ve been and where we’re heading.
*Big props go to our GFF Renae Porter at Dreamhunter for the recent happy snaps. Franklin was stoked you brought out his best side…front, back and side again. Talk about hog in the camera.
Going against the gospel according to Gaga, Girl Friday IP doesn’t live for the applause, applause, applause. But to be listed as a finalist in the Women in Law Awards this year, was ‘pinch me’ moment that someone was sitting up and taking notice of our story and efforts.
2 flights and 3 time zones later, I made it to the awards dinner in Melbourne. Didn’t take home the gong on the night, but better still I got to celebrate with a few drinks in the brilliant company of some amazing women in the industry. Cheers ladies!*
*Special thanks to Mimi Marchesi and Alastair Dunbar from Legalite for prompting me to haul ass to dinner and letting me sit with you.
Asian Patent Attorneys Association 2018 Conference
India is a challenging and contrasting place. It’s modernising and growing at a ridiculous pace, while trying to break out of its time-worn culture and traditions. It was the perfect setting to introduce the Girl Friday IP brand and story to an international crowd. Initial curiosity gave way to a really warm welcome from our new international friends at APAA2018 in New Delhi. Was great to see some familiar faces too!
Paying it forward is one of the core values of The GFC – Girl Friday Culture.
We aspire to inspire by giving more than what is expected and giving back to the communities where we work, live and play. Do good. Feel good. Rinse and repeat.
We are proud to have chosen Water.org as our charity partner. With continued support from our GFFs (#girlfridayfriends), we can play our part in making a meaningful change to communities in need.
International Trademark Association 2018 Conference
Was literally sleepless in Seattle at INTA2018 Conference earlier this year. Not surprising really given that it took about 26 hours to get there. Was so thankful that Seattle was home to some brilliant coffee, including the Original Starbucks. Riding a wave of jet lag and caffeine, I made some fantastic friends at my first international conference.
(Side bar: My geography skills are pretty poor at the best of times, but I only realised after this trip how bloody far Perth is from anywhere. A small price to pay for having some of the best beaches in the world)
We’re incredibly lucky to cross paths with some amazing businesses. Girl Friday IP wouldn’t be what it is without the support and friendship of our #girlfridayfriends. So we’re celebrating and paying it forward with 12 Days of Christmas Gratitude! We have some great Christmas goodies and gift inspo from some of our GFFs.
If you’re looking for unique Christmas gifts, consider throwing your support behind a small business this year.
MERRY CHRISTMAS & HAPPY NEW YEAR!
